My Alpha Didn’t Want Me… Until I Disappeared Chapter 03

I spent almost the entire winter break with him.

When the fraternity brothers gathered to drink beer, Julian would gently wipe the foam from the corner of my lips.

When he lost a game of Truth or Dare, he would laughingly drink for me, declaring that no one was allowed to bully me.

On the way home during a snowstorm, flakes fell thickly onto his shoulders because his umbrella was tilted entirely over to my side.

When I caught a terrible fever, he took me to the clinic for an IV drip.

Seeing his frantic figure running around to take care of me touched something deep within my heart.

In many of those moments, I truly felt like Julian was my actual boyfriend.

While dining at a high-end restaurant, he mimicked a deeply infatuated couple at the next table and said to me:

“I want a scarf knit by your own hands, too.”

He said it casually, but I couldn’t help but take it seriously.

I secretly began gathering materials to knit a scarf.

Because I was a complete novice, I kept knitting and unraveling it over and over. Several sections lost their elasticity, leaving the texture warped and uneven.

Nicola didn’t care at first.

After all, she never believed Julian could truly fall for a plain, ordinary, completely unremarkable wolfless girl like me.

But as winter break drew to a close, Julian hadn’t given her a single glance.

Nicola completely panicked.

At a bar, his friends playfully cheered and called me “Luna.”

Julian casually unbuttoned his collar, revealing a tattoo of my initials right on his collarbone.

The crowd gasped, claiming he had truly fallen hard for me this time.

At that moment, Nicola’s eyes turned bloodshot. She grabbed a beer bottle and smashed it directly over my head, the butterfly tattoo on her wrist trembling violently.

“Juniper, what makes you think you can take him from me? Does a worthless hick from the middle of nowhere like you even deserve him?”

Crimson blood ran down my brow, dripping right into my eyes.

My vision instantly blurred into a scarlet haze, yet I could still see everything clearly.

Julian had a smirk on his face, but his eyes were fixed tightly on Nicola.

He was desperately trying to hide the agonizing heartbreak in his gaze.

What he wanted all along was for Nicola to regret her choices, to go crazy, and to completely lose her mind over him.

Seeing Nicola on the verge of a total breakdown, Julian finally stopped hiding his feelings.

He forcefully pulled the weeping girl into his arms, burying his lips in hers with an intensity he had been holding back.

“It’s just a temporary tattoo. You actually believed it?”

Nobody cared about me, sitting there with blood pouring from my head.

The very people who had been calling me “sister-in-law” seconds ago were now cheering for their beautiful love story.

Sensibly, I quietly exited the bar alongside the other rich kids, leaving the two of them alone in their own world.

After getting my wound treated, I hid the half-finished scarf in the deepest corner of my locker.

Julian didn’t look for me for an entire semester. He might have forgotten someone like me even existed.

His relationship with Nicola seemed to get better and better.

Sometimes during class, I would catch him on FaceTime with her.

The look in his eyes whenever he watched Nicola was always so gentle.

Likely due to the time difference, Nicola was usually fast asleep in bed during their calls, looking like a lazy, aristocratic cat.

For some reason, an inexplicable ache gripped my chest.

I suddenly remembered a night when he lay beside me on the grass, looking up at the stars, and abruptly blurted out something out of the blue.

“It would be great if things could just stay like this forever.”

I had been entirely confused. “What?”

He suddenly shut his mouth, and after a long silence, shook his head and said it was nothing.

Later on, my father’s medical bills became urgent.

The advance wages my brother took could no longer keep up with the family’s basic expenses.

Driven into a corner, I suddenly remembered that Julian hadn’t settled my final payment for the fake relationship.

So, gathering all my courage, I tracked him down at the bar he frequented.

Julian seemed to be having another fight with Nicola that night.

His entire figure was shrouded in the shadows of the booth, and the air around him felt terrifyingly cold.

Everyone held their breath, silently waiting for Julian’s response.

He told me to play along with him one last time.
