In My Son’s Name, Avenge Cheating CEO Husband Chapter 01

In My Son’s Name, Avenge Cheating CEO Husband Chapter 01 Pronounced Dead While Breathing

On the day of my son’s funeral, I accidentally overheard a conversation between my husband and his assistant, Ron, in the cemetery.

“Calling off the rescue was the right decision. Jasper saw Arthur’s face.”

“But Arthur didn’t mean it—he’s still a child, he didn’t understand…”

“What about the company’s inheritance?” Ron asked.

“That won’t be a problem,” Andre said calmly. “Once Seraphina has calmed down, I’ll bring Arthur home. I’ll tell her he’s an orphan I adopted. She’ll raise him as her own.”

That was when the truth finally hit me.

My son hadn’t fallen off that cliff by accident—he had been pushed.

Pushed by my husband’s illegitimate son.

And my husband… had stood by and watched Jasper take his last breath, just to protect his mistress and that child.

I dialed a number I hadn’t called in seven years.

“Dad, it’s me. I’ve changed my mind.” My voice was cold, unwavering.

“I’m coming back to take over the family.”

“I only have one condition—withdraw all support from Andre’s company.”

……

“Did the doctor sign off?”

“Handled. The chart says failed resuscitation. Dead on site.”

“Boss, I don’t understand,” Ron, the assistant, said, his voice thick with confusion. “When we found Jasper, he was still breathing. Why did you order the medics to stand down?”

I was about to turn back to the car to grab the handbag, but those words struck me like a bolt of lightning, pinning me to the spot. My blood turned to ice. Instinctively, I ducked behind a newly erected headstone, pressing myself against it.

My husband, Andre Volkov, let out a heavy, weary sigh.

“You don’t get it. Jasper saw Arthur’s face. If he wakes up, he’s a witness.”

My heart felt as if an invisible hand had gripped it, squeezing the life out of me inch by inch.

“What?” Ron gasped.

“Arthur pushed him off the cliff. It was an accident. Arthur… he’s just a kid. He didn’t know his own strength.” There was even a trace of protectiveness in Andre’s voice. “If Jasper survived, Aurora would go to prison, and Arthur’s life would be over. I can’t let that happen.”

Aurora!!!

His first love. The woman he had sworn that he had cut ties with before we married.

“But… Boss, that was your flesh and blood.”

“I know,” Andre’s voice trembled. “But Arthur is my son, too.”

I clamped my hand over my mouth, my nails digging into my palms until I drew blood. I couldn’t make a sound. I wouldn’t.

“What about the company succession?” Ron asked.

“It doesn’t matter,” Andre said. “Once Seraphina calms down, I’ll bring Arthur home. I’ll tell her he’s an orphan I’ve adopted. She’ll raise the boy as her own.”

Hidden in the shadows of the grave, I shook uncontrollably.

This was the man I had loved for seven years. To protect his mistress and his bastard, he had stood by and watched our son take his last breath.

I wanted to scream, to rush out and confront him. Were those vows just a script? Was our entire marriage just a long con?

The sound of their heavy boots receded, swallowed by the graveyard quiet.

I knelt behind that headstone for a long time, staying until the sky bled into darkness. When I finally stood up, my face was dry. My tears had stopped at some point, replaced by a layer of permafrost in my eyes.

Andre thought he could play me. He actually believed I’d be the doting mother to the monster who butchered my son. He’s about to find out how expensive that mistake is.

This debt of blood—I would make him pay it back a thousand times over.

When I stepped into the villa, I went straight for the study. Andre was hunched over a stack of files, and when he saw me, his face instantly smoothed into a mask of concern.

“Seraphina, you’re back. I was just about to come find you. I can’t imagine the hell today has been for you…”

“I want a divorce,” I cut him off.

The pen slipped from his fingers and clattered onto the desk. The concern on his face was instantly replaced by pure shock. “What? What are you saying?”

“You heard me,” I said, my voice steady and cold. “I want a divorce.”

He lunged to his feet, trying to trap me in an embrace I now found loathsome. “Seraphina, you’re in shock. But we can’t make life-altering decisions when we’re this emotional. You need rest.”

I stepped back, recoiling from his touch as if it were toxic. “This isn’t emotional,” I said, looking right through his mask of concern. “We are finished.”

He moved in again, his hand reaching for my cheek with a terrifying, hollow tenderness. “Jasper’s death has shattered us both. I’m bleeding too. But we’ll find our way back. We can have another child.”

Another child?

The words tasted like ash. As if Jasper were just a damaged luxury good he could replace with a newer model.

Before I could vomit the words at him, his phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, and his face went deathly pale.

“Dad?”

A child’s voice leaked through the receiver, crystal clear.

“Dad, I have a fever. It hurts…”

Andre gripped the phone tight. “Where are you? Is your mom there?”

“Mom’s sick too… We’re home, but I’m scared…” the boy sobbed.

“Don’t be scared. I’m coming right now.” The panic in his voice was raw—the kind of panic he’d never shown for our son.

He hung up and turned to me. “Seraphina, a crisis at the office. We’ll talk about this later, okay?”

Crisis.

“Go,” I said, my lips curling into a smile that didn’t reach my eyes.

Andre didn’t just leave; he bolted. I stood there, watching him flee, the hatred in my chest roaring into a bonfire.

Just then, my phone buzzed with a series of messages from an unknown number.

I opened them. Photos.

The first: Andre and a blonde woman, naked and entwined in bed.The second: Andre kissing her forehead. The third: A family portrait of the three of them. Andre holding a boy’s hand in a park.

The boy was Arthur.

Then, text after text followed.

“Surprised? This is Andre’s real family.”

“What did you think you were? You’re just a tool. He only married you for your family’s connections.”

“By the way, do you know why you couldn’t get pregnant again? Andre has been lacing your food with a compound known on the black market as ‘White Ash’. He couldn’t risk you having another heir to threaten my son’s position.”

“Honestly, it’s a mercy that your son is gone. He was just a nuisance holding Andre back from his true potential. Do the right thing and sign those papers. We have a life to start.”

White Ash.

I nearly crushed the phone in my grip.

It was a slow-burn neurotoxin designed for metabolic murder. Taken over a long period, it would leave the victim looking like a hollowed-out husk.

No wonder I’ve been running on empty for three years. I just chalked it up to the grind of being a mom.

From day one, I was nothing more than a strategic play. Andre saw my family name as a climbing rope, a 10-year fast-track to the top. He wore the ‘devoted husband’ mask like a pro, keeping me blinded while his mistress and their son stayed parked in the shadows, waiting for my seat to get warm.

Fine. Andre, Aurora—I’m going to make you bleed for every second you stole from me.

I dialed my father’s number. He picked up on the second ring.

“Dad,” I said, my voice eerily level. “I need the antidote for White Ash.”
