She Made Me Burn I Sent Her to Freeze Chapter 02

I took a moment to admire her face—it was flushed to the point of bursting, her clothes were drenched in sweat, and she was gasping for air as if her lungs were about to fail.

I covered my mouth and gave a coy laugh:

“Vivian? Why the sudden concern for me?”

“I just felt like getting some cardio in. You know, running in this summer heat is actually quite a rush.”

Vivian looked like she was about to go up in smoke.

Today, she had intentionally gone to a construction site to hand out ice lemonade to the workers. To document her “kindness,” she had even hired an assistant to film everything.

At first, it was great.

She spent hours walking up and down in the blistering sun.

She felt absolutely nothing.

In fact, she felt cool and refreshed, as if she were sitting in a walk-in freezer.

But just as she was silently gloating over the magic of this Sensation-Swap System, everything changed.

The cool, comfortable feeling vanished instantly, replaced by the sensation of running in a sauna.

I watched the emotions flicker across Vivian’s face.

Suddenly, I lost interest in toyed with her.

I cut straight to the chase with a warning:

“Vivian, give up on your little ‘Voodoo’, or you’re going to end up in a very bad way.”

Vivian’s expression shifted through a dozen different shades of panic.

She immediately hung up. When I tried to call back, I realized I’d been blocked.

Soon after, the burning heat in my body vanished.

I assumed Vivian had finally retreated into some AC.

I stopped running and headed home.

Luke immediately brought me a glass of ice water, looking at me with forced affection:

“Maya, have some water.”

“Don’t go looking for trouble like that again.”

I frowned and warily pushed the glass away.

But in the next split second, a heavy blow landed on the back of my neck.

Everything went black.

When I woke up, I found that Luke had taken me to a summer retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains, over three thousand feet above sea level.

It was perpetually cool there, with the temperature never exceeding 77°F!

My heart sank.

A moment later, Luke pushed the door open and looked at me with a beaming smile.

“Darling, come outside. Everyone is waiting for you.”

Without giving me a choice, he dragged me out the door.

Outside, a pool party was in full swing.

The people there were all from Luke’s inner circle of friends.

I rarely associated with them; I always felt a subtle, lingering malice coming from them.

“Maya, thanks for the invite! We’ve never stayed at a resort this expensive before!”

One man said with a smirk.

Despite the smile on his face, the look in his eyes made my skin crawl.

I looked at Luke and asked point-blank:

“What is the meaning of this?”

He was just another corporate drone living paycheck to paycheck; the only way he could afford this was by using the Authorized User card I had linked for him.

Luke pulled me close, acting tenderly:

“Honey, you hate the heat. This is my surprise for you.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he jumped into the pool, dragging me into the water with him.

The bl0od rushed to my head, and I slapped Luke across the face.

For the sake of his “precious sister,” he really was pulling out all the stops!

Right now, I felt nothing but a wave of heat and dizziness. Vivian must have started her “saintly act” again, handing out water in the heat.

In my last life, this was how it happened. She built her brand on being “kind” and became an internet sensation.

Meanwhile, I died of heatstroke in an air-conditioned room.

Now that I was no longer under their control, he was trying to trap me in this mountain retreat!

“Get lost!”

I pushed him away and tried to climb out.

But he suddenly pressed down on me hard, holding me in the cold water.

Luke’s mask of tenderness finally shattered.

He let out a malicious laugh, his grip turning brutal.

“Maya, since you’ve insisted on making things hard for Vivian, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
