Alpha Jaxon’s face was stone cold. Zander could barely keep his smile up. “Alpha Jaxon, there’s gotta be some misunderstanding here. Let’s sit down and talk this through Business is business-you can’t just walk away like this.”

Jaxon didn’t take the bait. He said coldly. “We agreed to work with Aria. Zander, you never told us she was out. Now you’re telling me you switched people?”

He pointed at Nyx. “You can change the rules whenever you want? So can we.”

Nyx’s face went white. She rushed to explain, “Mr. Jaxon, this partnership is about the pack’s strength, not one person, right? I’m totally capable of handling this project. My background-”

Jaxon cut her off. “Just from what you said today, you’re nowhere close to Aria’s level.”

“Jaxon!” Zander raised his voice, trying to back Nyx up.

But Jaxon wasn’t having it. “Zander, we trust Aria as a person, not your Grimm Pack. We respect her, not you.”

I’d said it before. That alliance was something I built from scratch. Nyx couldn’t handle it.

Right then, Zander’s secretary burst in. “Alpha, this just came in. Aria said it’s urgent and you need to see it right now.”

Hearing my name, Zander’s face scrunched up. “What’s she pulling now?”

He ripped open the envelope, his expression getting darker and darker.

Zander stumbled backward, completely stunned.

Jaxon glanced at it and let out a cold laugh. “Zander, looks like even your Luna got tired of your bullshit.” He turned and walked out.
