The handover would take several days, so I buried myself in paperwork, sorting through everything file by file.

Ever since that meeting room incident, the whole pack’s attitude changed overnight.

Everyone was kissing up to Nyx like she was already the new Lama.

Zander said nothing. He didn’t stop them either.

One day I went out for lunch. When I came back, my desk was a total mess.

My files were scattered everywhere.

“Aria, you’re not mad, are you?”

Nyx blinked at me with those innocent big eyes.

“I just wanted to get familiar with things early. I didn’t mean to mess up your stuff.”

Looking at that pile of chaos, blood rushed to my head.

“Don’t be upset,” she said.

“Get out.” My voice was flat.

She pouted and walked out while the whole pack watched, waiting for us to fight.

As she passed by me, she lowered her voice so only I could hear:

“Aria, none of this stuff was ever really yours anyway. Still thinking about those sweet posts?”

So that Instagram post was just to mess with me.

I bent down to pick up the stuff from the floor.

It was our mating ceremony photo.

Wrinkled and scratched up, you couldn’t even see our faces anymore.

I tossed it straight into the trash.

Nyx had no idea that the thing she was dying to get was already worthless to me.

After that, the gossip got worse. Zander made me hand everything over to Nyx right under his nose, like I was some kind of thief.

He put Nyx on a pedestal and ground me into the dirt.

Zander, you’re really something.

I was still the pack’s Luna, handling all this stuff, and he already treated me like this. What would happen when I actually became just a useless decoration at home?

After finishing the last handover document, he said, “Oh right, Nyx might still have questions. Keep your phone on and answer when she calls. Don’t ignore her I’m sure she’ll do just as well as you did, maybe even better”

“Fine”

Nyx smiled like she’d just won a war. “Thanks, Aria.”

The secretary walked in and asked quietly. “Alpha, for the alliance ceremony, should we change Aria’s name to Nyx on the list?”

“Change it.”

Zander looked at Nyx like she was some precious treasure, like she was the only person in the room.

Standing there, I felt like the outsider.

The alliance ceremony came up fast.

Nyx stood next to Zander, glowing like a queen.

1 stood off to the side, slowly popping berries in my mouth, watching with zero interest.

Then Alpha Jaxon from Vale Pack walked in, all smiles.

He greeted everyone, then looked around. “Where’s Aria?”

Nyx stepped forward.

“Oh, you probably didn’t hear. Aria had other things to handle. I’m taking over this project now. I’m Nyx, looking forward to working with you.”

Her face was full of smugness.

Right then, one of his guys rushed in and whispered something in Jaxon’s ear..

Jaxon’s smile disappeared. He flipped through the contract, going through several pages, then looked at Zander and Nyx.

His voice turned ice cold:

This deal is off.”
