That pack alliance deal was our first time expanding trade outside our territory, and I’d been handling it solo from day one.

“Aria, meeting’s starting soon,” someone reminded me.

I nodded. I was only back to grab my files.

Walking toward the conference room, I heard voices from the break room.

“Look who’s back. Our pack’s little princess. Can’t stand that smug look on her face.”

One woman rolled her eyes.

“Who knows how much she screwed up out there? Probably had our Alpha cleaning up her mess again. Unreal.”

“Princess? Please. She’s almost thirty. The pack’s got plenty of young, hot Omegas.”

“Yeah, remember when they said the Alpha’s Insta was all about her? Now he doesn’t even post anymore. Hilarious.”

They were talking about me. Their lunch break entertainment.

When I walked into the conference room, everyone was already there. I sat in my usual spot.

Zander glanced at me, then told everyone, “She’ll be handling the southern territory alliance negotiations.”

The whole room exploded.

Zander and Nyx didn’t seem to care.

I stood up.

She looked stunned. Didn’t expect me to be so graceful about it.

I finished clapping and walked out of the room.

Zander followed me.

“I respect the Alpha’s decision.”

He didn’t look embarrassed at all. “You’re almost thirty. We don’t have pups. You should focus on that. Let Nyx handle the work stuff. Just be a good Luna.”

I almost laughed. Kicking me out while making it sound noble.

“Aria, don’t get the wrong idea,” Nyx said quickly, following behind us.

I smiled sweetly. “Nyx, what’s to misunderstand? I’m congratulating you. Look how thoughtful our Alpha is, giving you my work so I don’t wear myself

out.”

“Do you have to be so passive-aggressive?” Nyx’s eyes immediately went red, like someone had just slapped her.

“Think whatever you want.”
