His Perfect Wife Died The Day He Made Her Kneel Chapter 06

“Ah!”

Chloe Sterling let out a blood-curdling shriek. Tears cascaded down her cheeks as she curled into a tight ball, her entire body shaking uncontrollably from the sheer agony.

“I… I didn’t mean to,” Julian Vance stammered, looking utterly bewildered. Panicking, he turned toward the door and hollered at the top of his lungs, “Doctor! Someone get a doctor in here right now!”

The medical team rushed in, quickly working to clean and re-bandage her ruptured, bleeding wound. Julian sat tightly in a nearby chair, his brows knitted into a permanent, tense knot as he buried himself in thought.

It wasn’t until a phone call broke the sterile silence that Chloe realized he and Evelyn Sterling had already exchanged contact information.

“Julian, I’m so sorry… I accidentally broke the floral crown you made for me,” a sweet, syrupy voice instantly filled the room. Laced with an unmistakable undertone of vulnerability and sorrow, it was the kind of voice designed to melt any man’s heart.

Julian fell into a brief silence, shooting a subtle, guarded glance toward Chloe.

“Don’t worry. Stay right there, and I’ll weave you a brand-new one right now,” he promised. Standing up, the gentle warmth in his eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a wave of exhaustion and irritation as he looked at Chloe. “Because of your recklessness, I’m forced to pick up the pieces for your sister. I hope you can finally behave yourself and stop bringing me nothing but trouble.”

Without a single shred of hesitation, he turned on his heel and walked out.

Chloe watched his hurried silhouette disappear down the corridor. She didn’t feel a drop of sadness; her mind was entirely focused on her escape plan. The moment her relocation and travel paperwork came through, she would leave this hellhole and never look back.

However, on the day she was scheduled to be discharged, Evelyn strolled into the hospital room.

“Well, if it isn’t my dearest sister. I came to see how you’re holding up,” a grating voice instantly snapped Chloe back to reality.

Evelyn offered a playful, mocking smirk. “Tell me, how does it feel to be completely broken by your own fiancé?”

Chloe’s face remained static, her voice dead-cold. “Do you truly believe that even in this state, crushing you wouldn’t still be a walk in the park for me?”

Evelyn giggled, tossing her head back with complete indifference. “Oh, Chloe, you really are hilarious. What does it matter if you try to hurt me? In the end, Julian will always make you pay it back tenfold with interest.”

“After all, in his eyes, you’re nothing but a crass, disgusting street thug right now.”

With a provocative smirk, Evelyn casually pulled down her collar, exposing a faint, flushed mark near her collarbone. “I didn’t actually go home last night, you know… Care to guess whose bed I spent the night in?”

Chloe’s lips curled into a dull, expressionless smirk. “A homewrecker’s daughter through and through. You certainly inherited your mother’s best traits—a cheap pair of lips that any man in the city can taste.”

The smirk died on Evelyn’s face instantly, her eyes locking onto Chloe with pure venom. “Your tongue is just as lethal as always, isn’t it, Chloe?”

Shifting her tone with a sudden, radiant smile, she rattled the thermal lunchbox in her hand. “But let’s not talk about that. I actually came here today to bring you a lovely lunch. I spent the entire morning brewing this porridge myself. You simply must try it.”

Without sparing it a single glance, Chloe coldly turned her head toward the window. “Take it away. I refuse to contaminate my stomach with your garbage.”

Acting as though she hadn’t heard the biting insult at all, Evelyn’s expression twisted into a sudden, demonic sneer. “Oh, you’re eating it today, whether you like it or not!”

Before Chloe could even react, Evelyn pounced onto the bed, brutally forcing Chloe’s jaw open and violently cramming the contents of the bowl down her throat.

A foul, sickening fluid mixed with a pungent, stomach-turning stench exploded across Chloe’s tongue. Slumping against the mattress, she began to convulse in sheer agony. “What did you give me?! This isn’t food!”

Evelyn’s laughter grew increasingly unhinged, her eyes gleaming with a twisted, sadistic satisfaction.

“Of course it isn’t food. It’s the water of a freshly dead rat I fished right out of the sewage water.”

In a single instant, a violent wave of nausea slammed into Chloe’s brain like a sledgehammer. Her face turned a horrific shade of white as she dropped to her knees on the floor, frantically shoving her fingers down her throat to induce vomiting. Her stomach was churning in a violent uproar, yet she couldn’t bring anything up.

“Evelyn Sterling, you absolute bitch!”

Losing all her sanity, Chloe lunged forward like a feral animal, delivering a vicious slap right across Evelyn’s face before frantically clawing at her skin.

As fate would have it, Julian appeared at the threshold of the hospital room at that exact moment, bearing witness to the entire chaotic scene.

“Chloe Sterling, if you have a goddamn death wish, don’t you dare drag your sister down with you!”

Julian’s eyes turned lethal. With a powerful shove, he violently slammed Chloe away and tenderly wrapped his arms around Evelyn’s shoulders, shielding her protectively against his chest.

Caught completely off guard, Chloe was sent flying by the overwhelming force, her back crashing heavily against the solid wooden frame of the hospital bed, leaving her coughing in deep pain.

“Julian, I only came here out of the goodness of my heart to bring her some homemade porridge… I just wanted to fix our relationship. But Chloe just went completely rabid and started beating me… I’m in so much pain…” Evelyn whimpered, deliberately tilting her face to show off the raw, red swelling on her cheek.

Julian’s chest heaved with a violent fury. Glancing down at the spilled fluid pooling on the floor, a palpable, icy rage radiated from his silhouette. “How do you intend to explain yourself this time?!”

Chloe felt physically sick looking at Evelyn’s pathetic, victimized routine, yet she chose to remain entirely silent. It didn’t matter what she said anyway; he would never believe a single word out of her mouth.

Seeing her stubborn silence, Julian’s temper completely boiled over. Grabbing her roughly by the collar, his voice dropped into an eerie, emotionless monotone. “I have given you chance after chance, Chloe. Yet you do nothing but fail me. You are officially entirely unworthy of the title of Mrs. Vance.”

Chloe remained stone-faced and silent.

Pushing him past the point of sanity, he let out a thunderous, unhinged roar.

“Guards! Since Mrs. Vance refuses to listen, teach her some manners! Slap her face!”

One guard pinned her down, while another stepped up, swinging his arm back to deliver a succession of brutal, heavy slaps across Chloe’s face.

The crisp, agonizing cracks echoed relentlessly through the sterile room. It wasn’t until the ninety-ninth strike that Julian finally gestured for them to release her.

“Spend some time reflecting on your actions. The Vance family has absolutely no use for a hysterical shrew.” Leaving behind that parting threat, he gently guided Evelyn out of the room.

Chloe lay slumped helplessly on the cold floor for a long time before she managed to stagger back onto her feet. Right then, her phone buzzed with a notification—her relocation and travel paperwork had been completely finalized.

Without a single moment of delay, she caught a cab straight back to the Sterling mansion.

Robert Sterling was sitting on the living room sofa. Seeing her walk in, he merely offered a lazy flick of his eyelids and muttered in a thoroughly detached tone, “Look who finally decided to grace us with her presence.”

Chloe didn’t have the patience to dance around him anymore. Cutting straight to the point, she said, “I’m calling off the wedding. I’m gladly handing Julian over to Evelyn.”

“What did you just say?!” Robert bolted upright from the sofa, his eyes wide with absolute bewilderment.

Chloe’s lips curled into a dry smirk. “Of course, it comes with a price. I want exactly half of the Sterling family’s corporate assets transferred directly under my name.”

Without a single shred of hesitation, Robert agreed instantly.

“My dearest daughter, of course I’ll agree to that! Everything the Sterling family owns will belong to you sooner or later anyway,” Robert gushed, his usual icy detachment completely melting into a surge of breathless excitement. Without a second thought, he signed the asset transfer contracts.

“These assets are the very lifeblood of our family legacy. You must manage them with the utmost care. Now, if there’s nothing else, I must head out. I need to meet with the Vance family elders to discuss the new wedding arrangements…”

Chloe watched Robert’s hurried, ecstatic silhouette disappear out the front door, a chilling, mocking smile spreading across her lips.

The exact moment his car pulled out of the driveway, she began packing her bags. Within hours, she liquidated every single asset she had just acquired, selling them off alongside the very mansion she had lived in for over two decades, converting the entire Sterling legacy into a massive string of digits in her bank account.

Once the final transaction cleared, she snapped her SIM card cleanly in two and tossed the pieces into the trash bin.

Turning her back on her old life, she offered a silent, final farewell deep within her heart and boarded a flight out of the country without a single look backward.
