He Thought I Loved Him—Dating My Childhood Sweetheart Was Work Chapter 11By Novel7s / May 29, 2026 He Thought I Loved Him—Dating My Childhood Sweetheart Was Work Chapter 11Minutes later, tires screeched to a halt right outside my gate. Someone shoved the gate open roughly. Kian set down his bowl, walked out of the kitchen, and stood beside me. Asher stood there in a tailored black suit. His headlights were still on, blazing behind him. His hair was messy. When he saw me, his expression shifted from eager to cold. His face turned livid. He stared at me, unmoving. Completely ignored Kian next to me. Kian looked at me, thoughtful. I shook my head fast. “You’ve got the wrong idea. We’re not that close.” Asher stepped forward, jaw tight, barely holding back anger. “Elowen, are you done throwing this tantrum?” “You’ve been mad ever since that night with the drinks?” “Do you know how many people showed up to the engagement gala? How I covered for you?” “You’re being ridiculous.” He reached for me. I stepped back, frowning. “Mr. Voss, you’ve got it wrong. The family you’re supposed to marry is the Anderson heiress.” “Not me.” Asher relaxed, like he’d heard exactly what he wanted. “That’s what this is about?” “I didn’t realize the Andersons changed things. I didn’t know you weren’t blood–related.” “But you think I care?” “I’d never let them hand me some random girl.” “You should’ve told me back then. I would’ve fixed it.” Kian glanced at Asher, then at me. I shook my head, helpless, and motioned for him to go inside. He turned back to the kitchen, finished washing dishes. Asher finally looked at Kian. Noticed it was just the two of us living here. His tone turned sharp. “Elowen, who is he?” I said flatly, “I’m not answering any of your questions.” Asher’s assistant was still in the car behind him. His face flushed with embarrassment. He lowered his voice. “Elowen!” “Whether you’re mad about the drinks or some long–lost Anderson girl, I’ll handle it.” He grabbed my wrist. “Come back to Aurora Hills with me. We’ll get engaged like planned, married in a year.” “As long as the Andersons still claim you, the deal stays the same.”
