I headed straight to the second–floor bedroom, opened my laptop, and hopped on a quick video call with 

Victoria Draven. 

Victoria and I mapped out our next move right away. 

The second I learned I was just a borrowed womb, I’d slipped a digital voice recorder into the crack of Silvanus Blackwood’s Maybach driver’s seat.

Silvanus came back a few days later. 

He half–carried Seraphina, her face pale, looking

Agatha trailed behind, arms loaded with supplements 

and luggage. 

Selene, Seraphina’s in shock, her mood’s unstable. Her

house to rest for a few days. 

He stared at me the whole time, expecting me to snap 

like I had so many times before.

The last faint spark of hope in my chest died 

completely.

Silvanus eyed me warily. 

I locked my screen and looked up casually. 

Just the healer’s office. My routine checkup results

Silvanus relaxed visibly and laughed as he walked 

away.

I smiled calmly and stood up to pack my clothes. 

Silvanus stared at my stomach in shock when I bent down.
