My Cheating Husband Told Me To Find Someone Else—So I Kissed My NEW BOYFRIEND In Front of Him Chapter 02

Cassius and I lived in a house near his company. A hundred and fifty square yards, but only three bedrooms and a living room.

Cassius used to be a big kid. The place was stuffed with action figures, game consoles, and Lego sets.

After I moved in, I bought some flowers and plush toys to make it feel more alive.

When Cassius stumbled through the door drunk, I quietly put his slippers in front of him.

It wasn’t that I was serving him. Natalie gave me a hundred thousand a month as allowance. I always felt guilty taking that money, so taking care of the house and him made me feel a little better.

He shot me a sideways glance and went into the bathroom.

When he came out, there was a bowl of soup cooling on the table.

“Your stomach’s always acting up. Have some before bed.”

I was about to go upstairs when he called out.

“Melissa.”

“Yeah?”

“Why aren’t you mad?”

His voice was flat, like he was asking why it wasn’t raining today.

I thought about it. “Probably because I don’t care.”

I didn’t care. I didn’t love him. So whoever he made out with, it didn’t matter.

Cassius’ eyes narrowed. He opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out.

I went to my room, changed into pajamas, and lay down in bed. Then I pulled out my phone and checked my bank account.

15,809,022 dollars. I could spend that money with my eyes closed and never run out.

Feeling relieved, I closed the app. Then my mom texted.

[Your brother’s graduating high school soon. He’s gonna get his driver’s license. Once the car’s ready, buy him a Maser—whatever. He says it drives great. Get the money ready.]

I bit my lip and texted back: [How’s the house renovation going? Make sure you get good tiles, cement, and fixtures.]

Mom wouldn’t have it. [Why bother with all that? That money’s for your brother’s wedding.]

[What about when you get old? How are you gonna live in a bad house?]

[Don’t talk like that. You’re rich. Of course you’re gonna take care of us. We raised you, fed you, sacrificed so much for you. We’re counting on you.]

She started listing the handful of good things she’d done for me—things I could count on ten fingers.

I was about to tell her I was planning to divorce Cassius, but seeing her like that, I swallowed the words.

Forget it. Why add to the drama? They never cared if I was happy anyway.

That night, I slept like a log. But somewhere between asleep and awake, I felt like someone was watching me. A strange, unreal feeling.
