She Invited Me to Her Wedding, Didn’t Know I Was Already Married to the Groom Chapter 09

Savannah instinctively covered her wrist, protecting the real

bracelet she was wearing.

I slapped Charles again, shaking with rage. “Stop pretending, Charles! You swapped the real bracelet for a fake and gave the real one to her. She told me, she showed it off. So just stop.”

Charles looked stunned, then turned to Savannah and saw her hiding her wrist. He grabbed her arm and pushed up her

sleeve.

The real diamond bracelet glittered there.

He yanked it off her wrist. “Where did you get this? I gave you a replica, a good one, but a replica. How did you get the real

one?”

Savannah’s eyes darted around; she couldn’t think of a lie fast

enough.

Charles’s grip tightened, and she winced, her eyes watering.

“Tell me the truth right now, or we’re done.”

Savannah stammered, “Maybe… maybe the other day at work,

Jennifer and I both took off our jewelry. Maybe they got

swapped by accident.”

I remembered that day, she’d kindly suggested we take off our

jewelry so we wouldn’t scratch anything.

It made sense at the time, so I’d set my bracelet down on my

desk.

So Charles hadn’t swapped them after all.

Emma shouted from the audience, “That’s a lie! You told us

his mother gave it to you! We all heard you.”

Other coworkers chimed in.

“Yes, you did.”

“We can all testify to that, Savannah.”

“You are shameless.”

Savannah froze, unable to talk her way out of this one.

Charles’s eyes blazed as he grabbed her throat. “I underestimated you. All that scheming. You said you just

wanted a replica, something like my wife’s, and I gave you

that.”

“But you’re dying, Savannah. You were supposed to be dying. Why did you have to destroy my life?”

He squeezed harder with each word.

Her eyes rolled back, and just before she passed out, he let go.

She collapsed, coughing, gasping for air.

“Let me see those records,” a voice said.

A middle–aged man stepped forward. “I’m an oncologist,” he

said.

I handed him the file.

He studied it for ten minutes. “The records are real. She does

have about a year.”

He walked over to Savannah and reached for her wrist. She

hesitated, then let him take it.

I was confused.

Then the doctor said, “My family also practices traditional medicine. I took her pulse while I held her hand.”

“She’s two months pregnant. And aside from some minor issues, she’s perfectly healthy.”

He held up the file. “Either these belong to someone else, or a

doctor faked them for her.”

I was stunned as the room erupted.

But no one was more shocked than Charles.
