Cassian’s father, Lorcan, was Winslow Holt’s only son. 

Lorcan had grown up under suffocating control. From childhood to adulthood, he had always been the best of the 

best in their circle. 

Thaddeus often said that when he was young, he and Lorcan fought for first place all the time. 

“Your Uncle Lorcan looked glamorous, but he wasn’t happy. Neither of us liked losing, but I knew he envied me.” 

Lorcan’s rebellion happened because of Elara. 

Against Winslow’s wishes, he even severed ties with the Holt family just to be with Elara. 

But Winslow was no saint. He used pregnant Elara to threaten Lorcan, forcing him back to marry into an arranged alliance 

and return as the head of Holt Media. 

Lorcan had tried to fight back. 

But at that time, he did not have enough leverage. Behind 

Winslow stood the entire Holt Media empire, with capital, 

connections, and industry resources far beyond Lorcan’s 

reach. 

A direct clash would only drag Elara and Cassian into deeper 

danger. 

So he chose to return to the family for the time being, swallowing his anger and quietly rebuilding his strength and influence. 

When he could truly stand as Winslow’s equal, he would personally bring Elara and Cassian back to his side, 

somewhere he could see them and protect them. 

But Winslow was shameless. 

Lorcan refused to touch Genevieve. 

So Winslow stole his sperm for IVF and had Genevieve carry 

his child. 

Genevieve showed up in front of Elara with her pregnant belly, 

arrogant and triumphant. 

“I am the legitimate Holt daughter–in–law. You’re the 

mistress. Your child is a bastard.” 

Elara was so shaken that she got into a car accident. She lay in Cedars–Sinai for a month before she was gone. 

Lorcan couldn’t take it and followed her, entrusting Cassian to 

Thaddeus before he died. 

After Cassian and Serena Draycott met, the live comments 

quieted down for several days. 

My bestie Paloma said she had a cold and asked me to go to the hospital with her. 

When we got there, I realized it was Cedars–Sinai OB/GYN. 

“Since when?” 

“Not sure if I’m pregnant. Checking.” 

“If you are, what’s the plan?” 

“Doing this solo. I can afford it.” 

After the checkup, the baby’s father stormed over. 

Paloma shoved the paperwork into my hands. 

“Hold this. I’ll deal with the man.” 

I sat on the bench in a daze, my brain still not caught up. 

“Ahhh, why is Aurelia at Cedars–Sinai? If she sees the male lead and female lead together, she won’t go crazy, right? What if Serena misunderstands her relationship with Cassian?” 

“Aurelia has been quiet these days and stopped clinging to the 

male lead. I almost forgot she was such a huge land mine.” 

“Actually, it might be better if Aurelia sees them sooner. The 

sooner she sees them, the sooner she gives up, so she won’t do something stupid later and ruin the male lead and female 

lead’s relationship, only to get punished by him.” 

“Love triangle scene. My favorite plot. This feels so good my brain is tingling. If Aurelia dares rush up and question him, the male lead will definitely say something brutal and embarrass her in public.” 

The live comments rolled wildly in front of my eyes. 

I looked up and saw Cassian and Serena Draycott not far away. 

This was the girl everyone thought suited Cassian best. 

She had that classic first–love beauty. Clean, bright, effortlessly pretty, like the campus sweetheart everyone in a high school hallway would turn to look at. 

Cassian’s gaze moved past me to the Cedars–Sinai OB/GYN sign behind me, then landed heavily on me. 

I lowered my head and ignored him, taking the paperwork to get the test results. 

A moment later, Paloma came back, followed by a man with red eyes. 

Mateo Reyes. 

The results came out. 

Paloma was pregnant. 

Mateo cried softly, his eyes brimming. 

“Stop crying. This baby has zero to do with you.” 

“It’s mine.” 

Paloma looked exhausted. She turned to me with an apologetic 

expression. 

“Aurelia, thanks for coming. But I need you to head back 

alone.” 

I understood. 

Just as I reached the entrance of Cedars–Sinai, Cassian’s Tesla 

Model S stopped in front of me. 

He rolled down the window and looked at me quietly, his eyes cold enough to frighten me. 

“Get in.”
