The Forgotten Princess of the Pack Chapter 01

The Forgotten Princess of the Pack Chapter 01

My sister Vivienne ate the half plate of mango I had left on the table and had a severe allergic reaction. Angry red welts spread rapidly across her skin.

My brother Grayson flew into a rage. He pried my mouth open and kept forcing mango juice down my throat.

“You love mangoes so much, don’t you?” he snarled. “Fine. Today I’ll make sure you have more than enough.”

The liquid went down the wrong way and flooded my lungs. I started choking, gasping desperately as my throat swelled in agony. I begged him to stop. I begged him to save me.

Instead, he dragged me to the basement and slammed the door shut.

“Vivienne suffered, so don’t expect any comfort either,” he said coldly. “Stay down here and think about what you’ve done. No one ever taught you how to behave. No wonder you turned out this vicious.”

Inside me, my wolf writhed in agony, thrashing as the suffocation tightened its grip.

I was too weak to fight back.

I was trapped in the basement.

The moment Grayson returned to the living room, he knocked a glass off the table in frustration.

“Is Felicity really a pup of our Silverclaw Pack?” he snapped.

“Mom. Dad. Did you really not mess up the DNA test? How could the Steele family give birth to someone like her?”

Our parents’ expressions darkened.

The Omega maid beside them spoke hesitantly. “Alpha, Miss Felicity looked really unwell just now. Her lips were turning purple. Shouldn’t we send her to the pack hospital?”

Grayson whipped his head around. “Shut up. You feel sorry for her? Who felt sorry for Vivienne?”

“Vivienne cares more about her looks than anything. Felicity knew she was allergic to mango and still left half a plate on the table. Look what she did to her.”

“She’s always pulling these petty little tricks,” he said with open disgust. “Do you really think no one sees what she’s doing? This is exactly what she deserves.”

The maid, Maggie, opened her mouth, then quietly lowered her head.

“Grayson, please don’t be angry…” A soft, fragile voice drifted down from upstairs.

Vivienne leaned weakly against the railing, tears pooling in her eyes.

For a brief moment, Grayson’s mind flashed with the image of me earlier, my face streaked with tears, utterly helpless.

He shook his head as if forcing the thought away and hurried forward to support Vivienne. “Your allergy hasn’t even settled yet. Why did you come out?”

Her face was pale as she hesitated, then spoke gently. “Grayson, please don’t blame Felicity. I think… she probably didn’t mean it.”

He cupped her face, concern written plainly across his features. “You don’t need to defend her. Everything that happened is her own fault.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Vivienne broke down crying even harder.

“It’s still my fault,” she sobbed. “If I had watched Felicity better when we were little, she wouldn’t have been taken by rogues…”

Vivienne and I were twins.

When we were five, she told me she was going to buy candy and made me promise to stay where I was and not move. Then she went home alone.

By the time our parents came looking for me, I had already been taken by a group of roaming rogues and sold to a brutally primitive pack. I was thrown into the Pits with other kidnapped Omegas.

For sixteen years, I lived deep in isolated mountains, beaten, starved, and abused.

That day, my adoptive pack father stared at my fully grown body and reached for me with a twisted, predatory grin.

I was saved only because my biological parents finally found me.

I thought I had escaped hell.

I never imagined that in the powerful and wealthy Silverclaw Pack, surviving would be even harder.

Grayson closed his eyes. “Stop taking the blame for everything. Felicity was born cruel. It has nothing to do with anyone else.”

“But since I’m her older brother, I’ll make sure she’s taught properly. At the very least, she should learn how to act like a normal person.”

Vivienne nodded softly. “I understand, Grayson. I’ll help you too. Together, we’ll raise our little sister into a real princess…”

Our parents nodded in satisfaction.

I stepped forward and slapped Grayson across the face. Then I slapped Vivienne.

Their smiles never changed.

My hand passed straight through them, leaving nothing but emptiness.

I had forgotten.

I was already dead.

Before I died, I had clutched my chest in agony as suffocation crushed me. The despair was unbearable.

Even then, I had still hoped.

I hoped my brother would open the door and take me to the pack hospital.

I hoped my parents would save me again, just like last time.

But nothing came.

My consciousness began to scatter. My vision blurred into darkness, though my hearing lingered a moment longer.

I heard Grayson speaking to Maggie outside the door.

“Without my permission, don’t give her food or water.”

Maggie hesitated. “Will something happen if we do that?”

Grayson let out a short laugh. “What could happen from skipping meals for a few days? I’m doing this for her own good. If she doesn’t suffer, she’ll never learn.”

I felt my lips curve into a smile.

I was laughing at Grayson.

I was laughing at myself.

There was a time when Vivienne skipped a few bites because she was in a bad mood. Grayson remembered every detail. He even went into the kitchen himself and baked her a small cake she loved.

But when it came to me, starving for days was apparently nothing worth caring about.

I couldn’t understand it.

I was his biological sister. Our parents’ own daughter.

So why were they unwilling to love me? Why were they unwilling to believe me?

Whenever those looks filled with annoyance, disappointment, and even hatred landed on me, I felt like I had already died.

I had died long ago.

Back in the summer when I was five.

Carrying all this resentment and unresolved bitterness, my consciousness finally faded, and I sank completely into the darkness.
