He Called Me A Housewife While I Gave Him Everything Chapter 06

I ripped my hand free, stepped around him, and walked 

into the bedroom. 

I pulled out a cardboard box I’d left ready. I started filling 

it with everything that was mine. Clothes. Books. Photo 

albums. 

Damian burst in and slammed his hands down on mine. 

His whole body shook. The tremor passed straight into his 

voice. 

“Nora, where are you going? Your dad just died, you’re in no condition, just stay. Please. Don’t go anywhere. Okay?” 

I didn’t answer. I just peeled his fingers back one by one. His grip was so fierce his knuckles went white. But I couldn’t feel anything anymore. My heart died on that rooftop. 

I kept packing. 

He started pulling things back out of the box. “Stop packing. Nora, stop packing. This is our home. Where are you going?” 

I walked to the bottom of the closet and took out the box. I 

opened it. The bloodstained white shirt. I lifted it out and dropped it at his feet. 

“I kept this for years. I looked at it every day. I told myself, he almost died for you.” My voice was flat. “I’m giving it back 

now.” 

Damian stared at the shirt on the floor. Tears broke and 

ran down his face. He collapsed to his knees, gathered the shirt 

into his arms, and clutched it to his chest. 

“You can’t throw this away. Nora, this is proof, proof of 

what we had. Five stab wounds. The doctors told me I wasn’t 

gonna make it. You held my hand and said if I survived, you’d 

never leave me. You swore that. You don’t get to take it back.” 

I laughed. Tears slid down my cheeks and hit the floor. 

“Love? You want to talk to me about love, Damian?“. 

“You nearly died saving me, and the whole time, you were 

disgusted by me. You locked me in this house and took my 

father’s life savings to bankroll another woman. Is that what 

love looks like to you?” 

He shook his head wildly. He crawled toward me on his 

knees. “No. Nora, I was never disgusted by you. It was Ethan, 

he kept getting in my head, telling me you were damaged goods, that you couldn’t give me an heir.” 

“And Chloe, she came after me. She set the whole thing up. 

I’ll send her away. I’ll make her end the pregnancy. I’ll sign 

over the company. Every cent I have… it’s yours. Please. Please 

don’t go.” 

He wrapped his arms around my waist and squeezed, 

so tight it felt like he was trying to fuse us together. I stared straight ahead and spoke without inflection. 

“Damian. Let go. Don’t make me hate you more than I 

already do.” 

His body locked up. The arms clamped around me 

loosened, inch by inch. 

I picked up the box and walked past him. I didn’t turn 

around. 

Behind me, something heavy hit the floor. Glass shattered. Then came the sound of Damian’s voice, ripped raw. 

“Nora…” 

Damian sat in that empty house for days. He was terrified to close his eyes. Every time he did, he saw my father falling 

from that rooftop. He saw my back as I walked away, the 

coldest thing he’d ever seen. 

Ethan came through the door and immediately started 

coughing on the cigarette smoke. “Damian, if you keep this up, the company’s finished.” 

Damian lifted his head. His voice was wrecked beyond recognition. “Did you find out who sent that text?” 

Ethan handed him a file. His face was grim. “It was Chloe. She grabbed your phone during the celebration after your pitch, everyone was distracted.” 

Damian shot to his feet so fast the chair crashed over 

behind him. 

“Why would she do that?”
