My Childhood Sweetheart Cheered as The Transfer Damsel Ruined My Future — Idiot, She Ruined YOURS! Chapter 07

Mr. Hayes stormed onto the stage, grabbed him by the collar, and delivered another slap.

“I spent money raising you-not so you could throw away your BRAIN for some girl playing victim.”

Austin knelt on the ground. “Dad, help me. I can still fix this.”

His father’s hands shook.

“Fix it? The official system locked it in. The admission record was broadcast to the entire school.

How do you FIX it? Weren’t you so GENEROUS just now? Didn’t you’d willingly give up your chance?”

Austin couldn’t lift his head.

Katie saw Mr. Hayes and crawled toward him on her knees.

“Mr. Hayes, please! I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean it. My family’s broke. Please don’t call the cops. I’ll do ANYTHING for

Austin. I’ll-”

Mr. Hayes kicked her away.

“You destroyed my son’s FUTURE. Not some test grade or homework assignment.”

Security already called the cops.

Officers walked into the auditorium. Katie panicked, voice breaking.

“Don’t arrest me. I’m only eighteen. I can’t have a record.”

The officer asked, “Who called?”

A school administrator stepped forward. “One of our students, Katie Morgan, hacked into another student’s college application account and changed their choices.”

Katie pointed at me through her tears. “SHE set me up! She knew the slip wasn’t hers and left it in her bag on PURPOSE for me to take!”

“So you’re confirming you DID take the login slip and you DID access the account.”

The officer looked at her.

Katie’s face went stiff. “I didn’t STEAL it. I just BORROWED it.”

“Taking someone’s login without permission and changing their application? That’s not borrowing. That’s a crime.”

Austin suddenly looked up. “Officer, SHE did it. She just admitted it-she deliberately tried to destroy Hailey.”

Katie completely LOST IT, pointing at Austin and laughing.

“Austin, you’re cleaning your hands REAL nice now. Why did I do it? Because YOU made me think I had a chance. You kept saying Hailey had it SO easy. That she didn’t get what it’s like to struggle.”

“I never told you to change any application.”

“You didn’t say it DIRECTLY! But every time you trashed her for me, I thought if she just FELL, you’d finally see me.

I was JEALOUS. She was born with everything. I had to play the victim just to get noticed. I wanted to drag her down. Didn’t expect I’d drag YOU down instead.”

Austin froze.

Katie lowered her voice, laughing viciously.

“But that’s fine. You-this golden boy-falling into the dirt will finally make you understand what MY life has been like. Austin, you don’t need to pity me anymore. Because now you’re ROTTEN too.”

Austin swayed on his feet.

Mr. Hayes raised his hand to strike him, then closed his eyes instead.

“Starting now-no more money. Cards frozen. Car gone. You want to repeat senior year? Transfer somewhere? Figure it out YOURSELF.”

“Dad! I’m your SON!”

“Then you’re on your own.”

Austin was completely speechless.

The officer put handcuffs on Katie.

Megan Clarke rushed out. “Officer, Katie just made a mistake. Her family really struggles.”

“Hardship isn’t a license to commit crimes.”

Katie was led away.

Before leaving, she turned to look at me, eyes holding zero regret.

“Hailey, so what if you WON? Austin’s already ruined. You can’t have him either.”

“I never said I wanted him.”

Austin jerked his head toward me.

Just then, commotion erupted at the auditorium entrance.

The principal walked in grinning, holding up a thick envelope with MIT’s logo.

“Hailey Morgan! Your acceptance packet just arrived!”

The entire auditorium went silent for a second, then erupted in gasps.

Austin knelt on the ground, staring at that envelope.

“So I was the only one who got destroyed…”
