He Favored Her So I Took My Patent To His Rival Chapter 04

The big screen lit up.

But instead of Leah’s polished, glamorous acceptance speech, what appeared was an old, grainy recording.

In the footage, a frail woman was shoved violently out of a house, her luggage thrown roughly across the ground. Neighbors stood around, pointing and whispering.

That humiliated, broken woman was my mother.

The man who had thrown her out was my father.

And hiding behind him, grinning triumphantly, was Leah’s mother.

They’d filmed it on purpose, to humiliate my mother when they drove her away.

The room fell dead silent, then erupted into murmurs.

Leah’s face turned ashen. Silas shot to his feet and rushed toward the backstage.

My mind went blank. Instinct made me run for the stage, desperate to grab the player.

“Stop!” Silas shouted, striding over and grabbing me.

Leah’s voice trembled from behind. “Oaklynn, why are you humiliating me like this in public?”

Silas’s grip faltered, then he shoved me hard in the shoulder. I fell to the ground, unguarded.

My palm slammed onto a shard of broken champagne glass. The sharp edge pierced straight through, blood pouring out.

The pain snapped me back to reality.

Silas looked down and saw my hands soaked in blood. For a moment, he seemed genuinely stunned.

Leah called his name. He turned away and took a document from his assistant.

It was the supplementary notarization I’d rushed to get from out of town, my only proof of innocence.

Without a glance, he tossed it into the paper shredder in front of every reporter.

The whirring sound cut into my heart like a dull blade.

He’d destroyed my last hope.

He stood there looking down at me, not a trace of pity in his eyes. “This is your punishment for refusing to admit your mistakes, Oaklynn. Stop playing these cheap, dirty tricks. It only makes me despise you even more.”

With his own lips, he branded me a thief. A plagiarist. A vicious woman who would stop at nothing to win.

All my grievances, anger, and foolish hope turned to ash in that moment.

Fine.

I slowly stood up.

I didn’t cry. I didn’t scream.

I calmly wiped the blood from my hand, then pulled two documents from my coat.

One was a formal complaint filed with the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, accusing him of abuse of power and judicial misconduct.

The other was divorce papers.

I slammed both documents into his stunned face. “Silas, this is the last time. From now on, we’ll meet in court. And we’ll fight to the end—no mercy, no quarter.”

The moment the words left my mouth, the doors of the banquet hall were kicked open with a thunderous crash.

Adriel walked straight through the gawking crowd to my side.

He took off his suit jacket, draped it over my shoulders to hide my bloodied, disheveled state, then lifted me into his arms.

He didn’t pause when passing Silas, only spoke coldly, “Judge Blackwood. See you in court.”
