The Dragon’s Savage Queen Chapter 05

The Dragon’s Savage Queen Chapter 05

Aurora’s POV

“Aurora, one more time-

Draven’s low voice rumbled by my ear. My face burned as I grabbed a pillow and smacked him with it. “Have some RESTRAINT!”

He caught the pillow with a soft laugh and pulled me back into his arms. “Admitting I wore you out?”

1 hit him again.

THIS was the supposedly bloodthirsty Dragon Prince from all the rumors?

These past three days since the wedding, Draven had been impossibly gentle with me. If there was any brutality-it only showed up in bed,

where that near-manic possessiveness came out.

I never imagined the soul bond ceremony would be that intense.

Especially with dragon stamina-it was simply-

“What are you thinking about?” Draven pinched my cheek.

“N-nothing!” I hastily changed the subject. “I want to walk in the garden.”

Draven smiled indulgently. “Let’s go. I’ll take you.”

As we headed downstairs, I looked around the palace and felt something tighten in my chest.

Everything here was something I loved.

The east wing’s third floor held an alchemy lab packed with rare materials-moonstone powder, phoenix feathers, unicorn blood… things you couldn’t find anywhere outside.

The west wing had a magical herb garden growing every rare plant I’d only ever read about in books.

Most surprising was the stargazing observatory on the top floor.

It was a wish I’d mentioned once, years ago-just wanting somewhere to watch the stars. A throwaway comment. I never imagined Draven had

held onto it.

‘How did you know I liked all this?” I couldn’t help asking.

Draven wrapped an arm around my waist, his tone casual. Finding out what you like wasn’t hard. I’m a Dragon Prince.”

He leaned close to my ear. “If my wife is truly grateful, she could always make it up to me tonight.”

My face went hot. ‘You’re TERRIBLE!”

Draven chuckled and pressed a quick kiss to my lips.

Days like these made me almost forget every painful memory from House Vale.

Until-

On the fifth afternoon, I was wandering through the palace when I found myself at the far end of the north wing corridor.

A black door stood there, carved with ancient dragon runes.

Two guards were posted outside, their posture stiff and alert.

“Your Highness,” one said politely. “No one enters without His Highness’s permission.”

Private chamber?

Curiosity gnawed at me.

Draven had given me everything-so why was this one place off-limits?

What’s he hiding in there?

I was about to push further when Draven’s voice came from behind. “Aurora?”

I turned. He was already walking toward me.

“How’d you end up all the way here?” He took my hand naturally. “Where do you want to go? I’ll take you.”

“That door-” I nodded toward the chamber.

Draven’s expression flickered. Then he smiled. “Just boring royal documents. Nothing worth seeing. Come on-let me show you the magic

fountain.”

He changed the subject way too fast.

My suspicion only deepened, but I followed him away without another word.

Back in our room, I couldn’t stop thinking about that door.

What is Draven hiding?

After dinner, I was mixing potions in the alchemy lab when I felt a surge of magical energy.

Someone was reaching out through a communication crystal.

I frowned and channeled my magic. A phantom image appeared-Kelvin.

Covered in wounds, face deathly pale, kneeling on the ground. ‘Aurora…”

I stared at him flatly. “What do you want?”

“I used forbidden magic to sever the soul bond with Seraphine,” he said, tears running down his face. ‘It cost me half my magic-I can barely stand… Aurora, after everything we had-eight years-just give me one more chance?’

Eight years.

I wanted to laugh in his face.

“Kelvin, you’ve got one thing wrong,” I said coldly. “For those eight years, only I was in love. You? You only ever loved yourself.”

“That’s NOT true!’ His voice cracked. “I get it now-I’ve loved you all along! Seraphine manipulated me-she deceived me-

“Stop.” I cut him off. “Don’t contact me again. I’ve moved on.

Kelvin’s expression shifted. His voice went cold and ugly. “Don’t make me FORCE you, Aurora. If you don’t come back, I’ll make trouble for

House Vale. Your parents are poisoned by Seraphine-they don’t have long. Can you really just watch them die?”

I went still.

My parents had always favored Seraphine over me. But they’d still raised me for twenty years…

Just as I hesitated, a cold voice cut in from the doorway.

“Threatening MY woman?”

Draven stood at the door, his expression terrifyingly dark.

He crossed the room and severed the crystal’s connection with one motion.

*A mere duke dares come at me?” Draven’s voice was soft. Dangerous. “Seeking death.”

He turned to the guards. “Send word-House Ashvale threatened the Crown Princess. Strip them of their title and lands. Effective immediately.”

“Yes, Your Highness!”

I gaped at him. “Isn’t-isn’t that too far?”

“Too far?” Draven looked at me, something hurt flickering across his face. “Aurora, after everything he did to you-you’re STILL defending him?”

I bit my lip.

It wasn’t about defending Kelvin. Old feelings just held me back.

Draven seemed to read my thoughts. He let out a slow breath and pulled me into his arms.

“You’re too kind,” he murmured. “That’s one of the reasons I love you. But Aurora-showing mercy to enemies is cruelty to yourself.”

He paused. “Trust me. Okay?”

I leaned against him and finally nodded.
