My Fiancé Kiss His Fake Fated Mate Chapter 05

My Fiancé Kiss His Fake Fated Mate Chapter 05

At home, I contacted the specialist Mrs. Hayes recommended. The doctor reviewed my file and confirmed the surgery could restore partial function. Not full. But enough.

The following weeks, Parker haunted the corridor outside my treatment room. He stayed silent. He watched the doctors discuss my case. His own bandages yellowed with time.

It made my skin crawl.

Soon after, my doctor recommended a transfer to the capital hospital. I packed immediately.

I hesitated about listing the apartment. Parker had paid half the mortgage, after all. But in the end, I put it on the

market.

Parker showed up at my door hours later.

His color had improved, but the dark circles were still

there.

“Where are you going? Why are you selling the house?”

I was surprised Mrs. Hayes hadn’t told him.

“The capital. For my hand. I’m not coming back.”

Every drop of color left his face.

On moving day, Parker was waiting outside my door. He

straightened when I came out. His fingers twitched at his

sides.

“I’ll… drive you to the airport.”

I didn’t refuse.

At the airport, he followed me through security. Onto the

plane. To the capital.

Even after we landed, he trailed me to the hospital. He

lingered while I checked in.

My patience ran dry.

“Can you leave now?”

Parker’s back went rigid. He didn’t look up.

“At the airport, you said you’d see me off. Then you

followed me to the hospital. Now I’m here. I’ve made it. Please.

Go.”

Silence.

Then, quietly, “I understand. I’ll leave.”

He took a few fast steps. Then he turned around.

Desperation flooded his eyes. “Everly, please, let me stay with

you…”

I cut him off. “No.”

The nurse arrived. Parker had no reason left to stay.

He looked back three times as he walked away. Hoping I’d

call him back.

I didn’t.

When I was alone, he reappeared in my room.

He knelt beside my bed. His face was wrecked. “Everly.

Give me one more chance.”

“Don’t leave me.”

I looked down at him. Mrs. Hayes should have already

been on her way to collect him.

“A few months ago, Parker. I begged you like this. I

begged you to remember me. Now ask yourself, why did you think lying was a good idea?”

Regret and agony twisted across his face. “So that’s it? You’ve made up your mind? You can really walk away?”

“I’m not walking away,” I said. “You already walked.”

I’ve never been someone who throws her things away easily. But once I do? It’s gone forever.

“Ask yourself honestly. Do you really feel nothing for

Chloe?”

Confusion filled his face. “Of course not. How can you

even think that?”

I knew it wasn’t true. I lived those three months. I

watched him play the doting fiancé. He wasn’t acting. Not

entirely.

“Parker. Don’t assume I’m yours by default.”

“You looked pretty damn happy with Chloe.”

“I wish you the best. Now get the hell out.”

Every word was clear. I made sure he heard every syllable.

I wanted him to hurt. To taste what it felt like chasing

someone who’d never look back. Only then would we be even.

He gave me one last desperate look. Then he stumbled out. Hollow–eyed.

After that, I felt Parker’s presence sometimes. Always at a

distance. He never came close.

Once my hand healed, I didn’t stay in Washington. My life

was somewhere else now. Somewhere without Parker Hayes.
