My Fiancé Kiss His Fake Fated Mate Chapter 01

My Fiancé Kiss His Fake Fated Mate Chapter 01

A car accident stole my Alpha mate’s memory.

Parker Hayes didn’t know who I was.

His family saw the crack between us and seized it. They told him his fated mate was another woman. They told him the engagement was already being planned.

Parker believed them.

But I couldn’t let go. For three solid months, I fought my way back to him. I needed him to remember what we had. Instead, he grew closer to her. Our bond faded into silence.

Eventually, I decided to stop trying. The last time I visited him at the hospital, I stopped outside his door.

His private physician, Dr. Holland, asked, “Was faking the accident really worth it? Just to give Chloe what she wanted?”

A long pause.

Then Parker said, “Chloe’s dying. I couldn’t tell her no. After the ceremony, I’ll tell Everly my memory came back. That way, she won’t leave.”

But Parker—

What if I’ve already decided to walk away?

The searing pain in my arm reminded me I had my own appointment. Still, I stood frozen outside his room.

He was so confident. He swore he’d make it up to me once this was all over.

Dr. Holland finished his exam and sighed. “You need rest. The amnesia might be an act, but you definitely rattled your brain in that crash.”

Parker snorted. “Are you judging me?”

Dr. Holland didn’t answer. His face said it all.

“I know I’m wrong,” Parker said, his expression grim. “I didn’t have a choice. Chloe doesn’t have much time left. All she wants is to marry me.”

“You know how much my mom adores Chloe. When Chloe got sick, Mom completely fell apart. If I go against her dying wish, it’ll destroy her. It’ll hurt Chloe too.”

The gauze was still taped to his forehead.

A sharp ache bloomed in my chest. Everyone saw his wounds. Only I knew what really happened that day.

The car flipped. Parker wrapped himself around me. A tree on the embankment broke our fall. In the chaos, his blood dripped onto my face. Barely conscious, he whispered, “Don’t be scared, baby.”

I didn’t want him to worry, so I never told him my arm was pinned under the seat.

My arm cushioned him. But it couldn’t hold the weight of a young, strong Alpha.

It still hasn’t fully healed. The doctor said I’ll never regain full strength.

Like he was convincing himself, Parker repeated, “Chloe won’t make it through the year. Once she’s gone, everything goes back to normal. No one can stop us then.”

Dr. Holland frowned. “Parker, have you thought about… what if Everly gives up on you first?”

The hope drained from Parker’s face. He went pale. His body swayed. Pure terror flickered in his eyes.

I watched, numb. The man who pushed us to the edge of death, he could feel fear?

He pulled himself together fast. His voice was sure. “No. As long as I keep up the act, Everly won’t leave. She loves me. She’ll come around.”

Dr. Holland exhaled. “Alright. If that’s your choice.”

I looked down at my right hand. It was useless now. The bones never set right. I couldn’t hold a paintbrush anymore. I couldn’t lift anything heavy. My life as an artist was over.

Parker tell me.

How can you be so damn sure I’ll compromise?

My wolf seethed. She wanted me to kick the door in and scream at him. I crushed the urge. Months of begging and caretaking hadn’t made him drop his plan. Why humiliate myself again?

I turned to leave. A nurse rushed toward me. “Miss. Hayes! You shouldn’t be here. You need to get back to the treatment room.”

The voices inside the room cut off. I lowered my eyes and let her pull me away. At the stairwell, I glanced back. The door stayed shut. No one came after me.

I paid my bill in the lobby.

“Parker, how are you feeling? Did Dr. Holland say anything?” Chloe’s voice was sticky-sweet. She clutched Parker’s arm.

I turned. Sunlight hit Parker’s face, making him look even more handsome. And Chloe, the so-called dying woman, glowed beside him.

Parker seemed to be her miracle cure.

I stared too long. They noticed.

Chloe stiffened. Her gaze cut into me like a blade. “What are you doing here? Who told you where he is? I need to get rid of these people.”

Most of Parker’s pack didn’t know the truth. They thought the amnesia was real. They remembered what we had. They pitied me, and out of kindness, they whispered things to me in secret. They never imagined Parker was acting.

Parker looked at me coldly. Like I was a stranger.

I had to hand it to him, he was good. Four years of love and a bond, and he could look at me like I was nothing.

“Everly. Have some self-respect.” Chloe’s voice sharpened when I didn’t look away. “Staring at someone else’s fiancé?”

Her voice carried. A crowd gathered.

“Enough, Chloe,” Parker said, calm. “We’re getting married soon. Don’t let irrelevant people get to you.”

Those words nailed me to the wall. Murmurs surrounded me, pity, disgust, judgment. Under their contemptuous stares, I felt myself burning alive.

Tears blurred my vision. I forced them back. I wouldn’t cry for Parker again. Never again.

“Ma’am, please understand.” Parker paused. Then he said the words that broke me. “I don’t know you at all.”

“Stop bothering me. And stop bothering my fiancée.”

Bravo, Parker.

He deserved an Oscar.

I hid my trembling hands and said quietly, “He’s right. We don’t know each other.”

Parker blinked. Shock crossed his face.

I raised my voice, clear and sharp. “We’re strangers. There was never anything between us.”

The crowd thinned.

Parker stood frozen. His fists clenched at his sides.

“Why would you say that?” he demanded. “You always used to say…”

“Let the past stay in the past,” I cut in. “You don’t remember it anyway. It doesn’t count.”

He reached for me. I sidestepped out of range. “Alpha Hayes. Strangers should keep their distance.”

His hand hung in the air. Then it dropped.

“Nice to see you’ve finally come to your senses. Stop harassing Parker.” Chloe sneered and grabbed his arm. “Let’s go try on wedding dresses.”

“Chloe.” Parker’s voice was tight. “I’m not done with this conversation.”

Chloe flinched. “So now I’m interrupting your little chat with some stranger?”

Tears welled in her eyes. She was used to his indulgence. She stormed off in a huff.
