High Paying Bounty for My Secret Husband’s One Night Stand? I Queted Chapter 09

High Paying Bounty for My Secret Husband’s One Night Stand? I Queted Chapter 09

He set down his glass, his eyes blazing as they locked onto mine.

“Or are you planning to keep me listed online as some kind of bounty hunt forever?”

I didn’t speak.

Going public with our marriage would be an earthquake for both Blackwood Technologies

and Harrington Group.

But looking at Jessica’s vile comments in the chat, something inside me was definitely

starting to burn.

“Alexander, are you serious?”

He didn’t answer. Instead, he picked up his phone and made a call.

“Daniel. Cut the hotel security feed. And notify legal. Have them draft a cease and desist for

defamation.”

He hung up and looked at me.

“Olivia, you’ve had your fun. Time to reel it in.”

I looked at his sharply defined profile and suddenly felt that this man wasn’t as cold-blooded

as I had imagined.

“Olivia, you have some nerve.”

He repeated the words, but this time, there was something else beneath his tone. Something

even he probably didn’t notice: a hint of affection.

“What are you smiling at?”

I looked at the faint curve at the corner of his lips and felt a flicker of unease.

He was usually stone faced. That smile meant trouble.

“Smiling at how greedy you are.”

He put down his glass, walked over, and pinched my chin between his fingers.

“Ms. Blackwood, is Blackwood Technologies that strapped for cash?”

I swatted his hand away with a huff. “Who doesn’t like money?’ Besides, they offered. It’s

called the price of information.”

He chuckled softly and handed my phone back to me. “Post it. Just like I said.”

I looked down at the screen. Jessica was still running her mouth.

[Hey, info seller, where the hell did you go? Post the photo or I’m reporting you!]

I took a deep breath. First, I refunded the seventy grand.

Then I posted a screenshot in the chat.

It was the two-hundred-thousand-dollar transfer from Alexander.

The memo on the transfer was clearly visible: [For my wife. Spending money.]

The chat went dead silent. I mean really dead silent.

Three full minutes passed. No messages.

I could imagine the jaws hitting the floor on the other side of those screens.

[Holy crap… am I seeing this right?]

Someone finally ventured weakly.

[Two hundred thousand… spending money for his wife?]

[So… the girl selling info… that’s Mrs. Harrington?]

Jessica posted a string of question marks, followed by a screen full of screams.

[No way! I heard Mrs. Harrington was a frump! How did she end up in a socialite chat selling

her husband’s info?]

I gave a dry laugh and sent a voice memo. “Ladies, Alexander is indeed married. As for

whether I’m a frump…”

I quickly snapped a photo of the two of us.

The backdrop was the Crown Suite’s floor-to-ceiling window. He was hugging me from behind, his chin on my shoulder, an unprecedented gentleness in his eyes.

And me? My hair was long and slightly curled, my lips a bold red. Nothing frumpy about that.

[Mrs. Harrington has a bit of a temper. You ladies should be careful.]

I sent that, then left the chat.
