He Took Her To The Island We Planned To Marry Chapter 11

He Took Her To The Island We Planned To Marry Chapter 11

Rowan stood there, watching Evander’s SUV disappear into the cold autumn dusk.

This time, he didn’t chase after them.

Because deep down, Rowan finally understood something.

This time-he truly couldn’t catch up anymore.

Later, from scattered conversations with Gideon, Rowan slowly pieced together fragments of Seraphine’s new life.

She and Evander had settled permanently on Evershore Island.

Evander gave up his exhausting international routes and switched to domestic flights instead.

Just so he could come home every night.

Seraphine resigned from Northlake Media Group shortly afterward.

She opened a small flower shop near the ocean, where every day was filled with sunlight and the sound of waves.

Sometimes Gideon and Odessa visited the island.

And every time they came back, they brought Rowan something small.

A box of coconut taffy.

A hand-painted postcard.

Sometimes just a photograph.

Usually one of Seraphine and Evander standing together by the sea.

In the pictures, Seraphine wore loose cotton dresses with her hair tied up carelessly.

She leaned comfortably against Evander’s chest while smiling with a kind of peace Rowan had never realized she was missing before.

Like she had finally found the ocean she spent her whole life searching for.

Odessa once told him the baby was a boy.

Evander named him Noah.

LANDS OF JAIL: ISLAND PENITENTIARY

Gideon said Evander was obsessed with the kid. Every time he landed a flight, he went straight

home to his wife and son.

When the baby turned one month old, Gideon flew to the island to visit them.

He posted dozens of photos afterward.

One of them showed Seraphine sitting on a seaside rock with the baby cradled in her arms.

Sunlight spilled across her face as she lowered her head to look at her son, her eyes soft enough to

break someone apart.

Evander stood beside her.

One arm wrapped loosely around her waist.

The other rested gently against the baby’s head.

The three of them looked like a painting.

Quiet, steady and complete.

Rowan stared at that photograph for a very long time.

Then suddenly, he remembered.

Back in college, the four of them had once sat on rocks beside the ocean too.

Seraphine had leaned against him exactly like that.

Her eyes had sparkled as she looked up at him beneath the sunset.

“Rowan,” she had whispered, “when we grow old someday, let’s still sit by the sea together and watch the sunrise and sunset, okay?”

Back then, Rowan had only smiled and ruffled her hair.

“Okay.”

At the time, he thought it was simply a young girl’s romantic fantasy.

He thought they still had forever ahead of them.

He thought Seraphine would always stay.

nurchacoc (including random-item) optional.

When exactly had everything started falling apart?

How had he managed to lose someone who loved him that completely?

And at what point had the ending already begun?

Rowan trapped himself inside those questions for a very long time.

And never truly found a way out.

Eventually, he moved apartments.

He chose a place untouched by Seraphine.

He thought maybe time really could heal people.

But every time the world fell silent late at night, Rowan still dreamed about the ocean.

He dreamed of Seraphine standing barefoot on the beach in a white wedding dress while sea wind

lifted her veil behind her.

In the dream, the bride would always turn around and look at him softly.

“Rowan,” she would whisper, “I waited for you for so long.”

Then he would wake suddenly in the darkness. Heart aching in slow, heavy waves.

And gradually, Rowan understood something else too.

The woman in his dreams had already found her ocean.

Leaving him alone behind her, wandering endlessly through a barren world with nowhere left to go.

Only then did Rowan realize: this was his ending.

Quiet.

Empty.

And completely beyond his power to change.

(The End)
