He Took Her To The Island We Planned To Marry Chapter 10

The opportunity came later than Rowan expected.

And far cruelet

It was a late autumn evening.

As usual, Rowan parked across from Northlake Media Group.

The moment he turned off the engine, someone stepped out through the revolving doors of the

building.

Seraphine.

Almost instinctively, Rowan shoved open the car door and stepped out onto the sidewalk.

From half a block away, he stared at her motionlessly.

She looked slightly softer than before.

There was more color in her cheeks now, more warmth in the lines of her face.

Even her jaw had lost some of its old sharpness.

But it was her eyes that struck him hardest.

The exhaustion that used to cling to her was gone.

Her eyes were bright now.

Alive.

Rowan had always known Seraphine was beautiful. From the very first moment he saw her in college, he knew.

But he had never seen her glow like this before.

For several seconds, he couldn’t even look away. He had just started moving toward her

when a black SUV pulled slowly to the curb outside the building.

The driver’s door opened.

Evander stepped out.

He wore a charcoal-gray knit sweater with the sleeves pushed casually to his forearms. Draped over

one arm was a woman’s shawl

He walked directly to Seraphine and gently settled it around her shoulders before leaning down to

say something quietly

Seraphine smiled and shook her head.

Evander laughed softly too, then carefully adjusted the shawl around her like he was handling something fragile.

Only afterward did he glance across the street.

Straight at Rowan.

Seraphine followed his gaze.

She froze briefly.

But only briefly.

No panic.

No guilt.

None of the reaction Rowan had desperately hoped to see.

She simply said something softly to Evander.

Evander nodded and replied with a quiet warning of his own, earning an annoyed eye-roll from her.

But that look-that small, spoiled little glare–was intimate in a way Rowan had never seen before.

The kind of expression a woman only shows someone she feels completely safe with.

Rowan watched the exchange happen right in front of him.

It took everything he had not to lose control on the spot.

Then Seraphine crossed the street toward him.

She stopped three steps away.

“Rowan.”

Her voice was calm.

“Long time no see.”

Rowan opened his mouth, only to realize something had lodged itself in his throat.

He stared at her greedily

At her face glowing beneath the sunset light.

At the polite little smile resting on her lips.

At the slight curve beneath her coat.

His pupils trembled faintly.

Seraphine noticed immediately.

Almost unconsciously, she placed a protective hand over her stomach.

The gesture was natural. Like protecting the most precious thing in her world.

“You…”

Rowan’s voice came out so hoarse it barely sounded human.

“You’re pregnant.”

Seraphine nodded softly.

“Three months.”

Something inside Rowan shattered slowly, cracking apart piece by piece like ice finally giving way beneath too much weight.

Every fracture was quiet, but painfully unavoidable.

“Congratulations.”

Even Rowan himself seemed surprised by how calm he sounded.

Seraphine looked at him briefly, almost startled by the sincerity in his voice.

Then she smiled.

“Thank you.”

Silence lingered between them for several seconds.

Finally, Seraphine looked at him seriously.

“Rowan… let it go.”

There was no cruelty in her eyes anymore.

Only honesty

“I’m really happy now.’

“And for the first time in a long time…”

“I feel safe.”

The evening wind lifted strands of her hair softly around her face.

“You should start living your own life too.”

“I truly wish you happiness.”
